Powders and granules present particular challenges when they need to dispensed: First, they cannot be dropped freely, as they spread and form an airborne cloud of product that contaminates the container and is highly wasteful. Second, powders are easily compressed and form clumps that must be loosened for the product to flow. This compression characteristics disallow for the use of volumetric systems as the density of the product continually changes depending on the looseness or compactness for the product in a given instant.The JORESTECH AFILL 2000 uses a PLC-controlled Servomotor to rotate a screw which forces product down to the bottom of the container. Fills of high accuracy are attained by electronically adjusting the number of revolutions the auger spins.
